Taking a Stand

Lorelei hasn't spent a ton of time learning to sit up. Oh, she can do it alright. (Incidentally, it's super fun to watch. She sways like a little drunkard and after a respectable thirty seconds, face plants.) I can't help but think she'd be more accomplished if she weren't so obsessed with standing. Seriously, she was doing this before she turned two months. I know because it was something she and daddy discovered and it terrified me. I kept saying, "um, maybe wait on the standing a bit until we can talk to the doctor and make sure we're not breaking her..." Well, of course we weren't. The doctor said (yes, I really did ask) that we should follow her lead. If she felt ready, odds are she was. I think that's why it's so important to have a mom and a dad around.*  If it were up to me, she'd be surrounded by bubble wrap and her poor legs would probably atrophy;) These days she demands to stand by shrieking, but more on that later. For now, here are a couple photos of her standing all on her own at about two months old.

(*EDITED: Or one adventurous Dad/Mom and one worrier Dad/Mom. In reviewing this entry, I realized it reads as though I do not support gay marriage- nothing could be further from the truth...)

  1. You should get an exersaucer! It's supported standing. When she's tired she can sit down, then get up again on her own when she wants to.
