Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl... Can't decide!

That subject line is really an homage to recess at SJB. But I digress...

We've committed to waiting to find out the gender of our magic bean, but that hasn't stopped us from speculating. Initially, we thought boy. Definitely, boy. Well, Sean thought boy. I think I thought it was a girl but I kept quiet because I thought somehow this was a test of maternal instinct (of which I'm afraid I have none.) At week twenty we were both certain it was a girl. I think this may have been due in part to our midwife mentioning that some people believe that baby's heart rate correlates to gender. High heart rate equals girl, lower heart rate means boy. Well, our bean's heart pounded at an incredible 156! Go team girl, right? Not so fast... Sometime around the start of the third trimester Sean just knew it was a boy. His confidence (propaganda?) was contagious and before long I was sure of it, too. We've held strong to our boy prediction for months now. In fact, I'm still leaning boy.

So you can understand why it came as a bit of a shock yesterday when Sean called me to say: "Good news! We're having a girl. The bad news is I miss the birth for some reason. You take it well though." Apparently he had a very lucid dream.  In related news, our daughter can walk already.

She is very advanced.
