I'm glad we took some photos at home before we got to school. I heard that a quick drop-off would be easiest on L, but I didn't know if I could pull it off. Also, I figured the first day didn't count. So, we brought along our camera on the assumption that there would be some great photo ops of L sitting angelically on her teacher's lap or playing contentedly with her new friends. After finding her cubby and getting her things put away, though, it became clear that getting out quickly really was the best plan. When we walked into the indoor gym where the kids start their day, the activity was so distracting that Lorelei was quiet, just taking it all in. It felt like she was gauging our reaction to decide how she should feel about all this organized chaos, and without any notice I just felt like we need to go NOW. Like this was no big deal. Like we leave her with strangers for hours on end all the time. So, we knelt down and gave her the briefest of kisses and told her to have
FUN and we'd be back this afternoon. She fussed for about ten seconds. She was happily playing at a table with matchbox cars before we made it around the corner. (Thank God there was a window.) So, in the end, the quick drop-off was the way to go- for Lorelei anyway:)
This is soooo adorable!
