Sean credits the Grand Meander for ensuring that we will never leave this neighborhood. It's a wintery festival that takes place on Grand Avenue in early December. (For those of you who are curious and/or judgmental as to my progress on this little blog project, this past year it was December 4th.) Anyway, nearly all the businesses participate in some way. Almost every place offers tastings of delicious soups but there's more. Off the top of my head... Brasa has a toasty bonfire, Dixies has a chocolate fondu fountain, Ace Hardware has actual reindeer and the man who owns the spectacle shop roasts chestnuts on an open fire- er, webber grill- and makes you sing for your treat. There are carolers in vintage costumes and Santa makes an appearance. We wander up and down the avenue sipping hot chocolates and everyone is in this very warm, friendly, festive mood. It's so cheesy but I can't help myself. It's like stepping into a Frank Capra film- and who can resist Frank?
This was obviously Lorelei's first brush with the Grand Meander. She had a blast but was entirely unimpressed with Santa. See below.

| Santa insisted we ALL sit on his lap. Kind man, but also a bit of a masochist... |

| Despite appearances, Cooper loves this festival almost as much as Paws on Grand. Lots of places give out puppy treats and he was welcomed into Ace Hardware which was especially fun on account of the reindeer smells. |
 |
| He's just looking for sympathy treats here- don't let him fool you. Everyone was always stopping to love him up and tell him how special he is. |

| Kari and her mom Jan gave us this cutie-pa-tootie pink snowsuit. |
 |
| A vision in pink. |

She was snuggly warm, but for her little rosy rudolph nose of course;)
